Who we are
Miracles through Maxine was founded in loving memory of our daughter, Maxine Olive, who faced the devastating effects of a rare disease called Late Infantile Metachromatic Leukodystrophy (MLD). Maxine was a bright and compassionate toddler who spread happiness and love to those around her. As her condition progressed, she faced significant mobility challenges that limited her ability to engage in traditional play.
Her journey took a turn when we discovered switch-adapted toys. These toys were life-changing for Maxine and our family, as they allowed her to play again, and us the ability to see her laugh and smile despite the pain she was in. She wanted nothing more than to engage in play with her baby sister, and switch adapted toys allowed her to do just that!
As any toddler does, Maxine loved bubbles! The joy she experienced while playing with her switch-adapted bubble machine inspired us to share this joy widely, so we started adapting bubble machines and now work to adapt any toy we can.
We are just a normal mom and dad trying to make a difference in any way we know how. We experienced firsthand how something as simple as play can make such a big difference in a child, no matter what they are going through. Through Maxine’s diagnosis journey we were met with so much kindness, compassion, and help where we didn’t even know we needed it.
We both work typical jobs during the day, and are busy raising our sweet toddler, but we are passionate about this cause and we enjoy adapting toys in our free time.
Throughout our journey, we were reminded of how much love and compassion the world has to offer, so we want to give back, even in a simple way.
Maxine taught us the kind of patience, kindness, and love that many only dream of. She taught us about strength and resilience, and that there is room for joy in any situation.
Join us in our mission to bring happiness and inclusivity to all children, honoring Maxine's legacy of love and kindness.
